Donna Maria deCreeft

Donna Maria deCreeft

PortSide presents the work of four artists, including three who had residencies aboard our ship this summer. This is part of the neighborhood-wide Red Hook Open Studios the weekend of October 12th & 13th, 1 - 6 pm both days.

Donna Maria deCreeft's art is inspired by diatoms (single-cell algae). Donna was a resident artist in the Captain's Cabin here this June.

Poetry installation with poems created by our two resident poets of April-May: Stefan D-W and Michelle Valladares.

Katherine Behar's sound installation "Maritime Messaging," originally presented on the 5th anniversary of Sandy, will be reprised. PortSide contributed all the text from RedHookWaterStories.org which Behar then put through a neural network to "teach water to talk." The final work was a video of moving water, with an AI voice speaking the WaterStories language it learned while displaying the words over the video.
